Acts
2:42-47 is the vision for Fully Alive as a church
and the Community Ministry is a key avenue through which
that vision is shared. The Community Ministry exists to
provide a variety of ways for people coming to Fully Alive
to get to know one another, establish friendships and build biblically
functioning community. That happens informally (loose
community) through various social events and informal
gatherings or, in more structured ways (formal
community), via community or small groups, bible
studies, support groups, etc.
Loose Community
We believe people are not only looking for spiritual answers
but for real friendships and authentic relationships. At
Fully Alive, we sponsor, encourage or make available different
ways for those friendships to develop. Here are a few examples
of things we have done as a church or in smaller groups.
| Family game nights |
Bowling |
| Sports teams |
Movies |
| Camping |
Beach outings |
| Parties |
Going out to eat |
| Sporting events |
Amusement parks |
| Picnics |
Concerts |
Our desire is that people, as they experience loose community,
will be compelled to explore the most important inspiration
from which our church is driven to build these loving relationships. That
inspiration is a very personal and real relationship with
God made possible as devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
Formal Community
We believe God desires Christians to "do life" together,
to study the Bible together, to experience His love together
and to share that deepening relationship with Jesus with
one another. That happens through several avenues.
| Community Groups |
Bible studies |
| Support groups |
Ministry |
| Hobbies & crafts |
Community service |
| Work crews |
|
Of the above, Community Groups are at the core of our church.
They are designed around smaller numbers of people (from
three to ten) getting together on a regular basis to study
the Bible, build closer friendships and share life experiences
together as followers of Christ. Some groups are started
because of similar life situations (young adults, single
moms, couples, etc.). Others may be extensions of friendships
formed from attending Sunday services, Tuesday worship or
other instructional classes offered at Fully Alive.
On the left you will find links to our current groups with
a brief description . We encourage you to eMail the contacts
listed and ask questions about their groups. Feel free to
sit in on a few meetings before committing to regular attendance.
You may even choose to visit or meet with several different
groups or individual members. It is important that you feel
welcomed and comfortable and vice versa. Also, new groups
get started as the need arises. If you have a particular
interest, please let us know.
If you have any more questions, would like to get involved
with a community group or are interested in leading a group,
please contact Lisa Frerichs ,
Community Administrator. |
