Macedonia Project

The Macedonia Project is our ongoing, periodic ministry to the homeless. The name comes from the account in the New Testament book of 2 Corinthians of the generosity exhibited by the church at Macedonia, and we're inspired to display a similar generosity to meet the needs of the homeless in our area.

And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people. And they exceeded our expectations: They gave themselves first of all to the Lord, and then by the will of God also to us. 2 Corinthians 8:1-5

Our goal when we go is to provide lunch and a care package for two hundred people. In addition we try to bring a human touch and concern, and a glimpse of God's love and grace. as we engage in conversation and offer to pray for those we serve. Following are our basic needs.

We need the following for care packages:

  • 200 pairs of socks
  • 200 hand sanitizers
  • 200 toothbrushes
  • 200 tubes of toothpaste
  • 200 ponchos
  • 200 travel-sized packages of Kleenex

We need the following for lunches:

  • 200 apples
  • 200 bottles of water
  • 200 lunch-sized bags of chips

Please email Yukie Cartwright to let her know what you are able to donate from the list above .

If you would prefer to make a cash donation towards the shopping, that would be welcome as well! The cash will also help purchase sandwich meat and rolls. Please either give your donation to Julie Anzalone, or put it in the offering basket indicating in the memo section that it is for Macedonia Project.

In addition, we will also be collecting coats, sweatshirts, blankets, beanies, gloves, scarves and backpacks to hand out to the homeless people. There will be bins for the items so please bring them to church at your convenience and put them in the bins. Don't forget to ask your friends, family and co-workers too.
