When I first heard about the Macedonian Project, my first thought was, "Bummer"!! I was having surgery on my thumb on January 8th and had to take 3 weeks off from work so I knew financially I really wouldn't be doing too much to participate. I skipped the first week's project because I felt like I didn't deserve to participate when I wasn't giving anything financially.
When I saw the video at church from the first week, I was so jealous that I wasn't a part of that group. I was praying to God all the way home from church that day. God said, "It's not about the money......it's about the heart". I may not have the money this month but I do have the time and talent to give. So, I went ahead and showed up at Togo's that afternoon. I didn't know what I could do but I just kept saying, "Whatever God wants me to do, I'll do". I knew in my heart that God wanted me there.
I went with Jeri and 3 other ladies to take Sarina and her 4 children to Target. By the end of the day, my heart was filled with joy and gratefulness that came from knowing that I did what God wanted me to do. I thanked God for giving me the opportunity to serve others on His behalf. After all, that is what the Macedonian Project is to me; sharing God's love and all the blessings He has given me with others, letting God be known. It's not about how much you give, it's about how you give. It's about what's in your heart. It's also not about what Fully Alive does on Sunday afternoons for 6 weeks. It's about doing it everyday; taking every opportunity that God gives you and using them to share His love.
When I saw Sarina and her 4 children from our week two project walk into church on week 4, my heart was filled with joy and excitement. Not for me but for them. They are going to get to know God!! How awesome is that!?! We did what we are called to do. That is what the Macedonian Project is to me. Bringing God to those who don't know Him. Praying that they too will have a relationship with Him.
