In May 2003 Fully Alive Community Church was blessed with
the decision of one man. Kenny Frerichs decided that his
high power job as a Senior VP at Nokia International was
not the answer for his life. Kenny made a decision to leave
his very lucrative job to come to work for Fully Alive...
for free!

The Letter to Nokia
Below is the text of Kenny's testimony to Nokia in the
form of his letter of resignation. Eventually this email
was distributed to over 60,000 Nokia employees world wide.

John:
Over the past few months God has laid on my heart that
I need to take some extended time off to focus on stewardship
and serving Him through serving others. After much prayer
and numerous discussions with my wife, I wanted to let
you know that I will submit my resignation next week
effective July 1, 2003.
I have learned that obedience can lead us down roads less
traveled and can be somewhat unsetting to the current way
of life. In my case, I feel very convicted to focus on
works that emphasize legacy rather than career.
I want to personally thank you for your life balance leadership
and principals. In my 21-year professional life you are
the first real outward Christian boss I have had the pleasure
of working for. I don't think I can properly express in
words just how inspirational you have been in my current
walk. While many may not outwardly appreciate this gentle
spirit you poses, I know God must be pleased. Thank you.
Hopefully we can get together for breakfast or lunch next
week while I'm in Dallas to discuss this in more detail.
Thanks,
Kenny |
