What is a "Pastor
of Spiritual Formation"?
Marvette teaches on Sundays and Tuesdays. But in
addition, she also ensures that the methods are in place
for spiritual growth to happen in the lives of people at
Fully Alive. Marvette also oversees the prayer ministry,
discipleship, and Fully Alive Bible Studies.
How did you come to Fully Alive?
I came to Fully Alive to see the Christmas Show. At the time
I had just moved to San Mateo and I wanted to find a church.
However, I wanted to find a church that was unique. I had
attended a church in So. California that was community oriented
and fairly post-modern. I was skeptical that I could find
a church that could offer what I was in need of in a church.
I grew up attending a fairly traditional church that provided
a great foundation for my Christian walk. However as an adult
I found that I needed more in a church than just traditions.
I needed a family; I needed accountability; I needed a place
where I would feel welcomed and feel comfortable being involved.
So I tried out "The Christmas Show", and I was
pleasantly surprised. I decided to try it out on a Sunday
morning to see if the atmosphere was for real. That first
Sunday I knew it was the place for me. I felt challenged
and welcomed and right at home. |

Where would be your
dream vacation and why?
I would love to take two months and journey all over South
America. I love the Latin culture and their language and
the people. It would be fabulous to take a journey that would
let me explore and see a glimpse of nearly every country. |

food?
I love to try international foods. I especially enjoy Thai,
Greek and Sushi. Yum! Yum! |

Tell something about
yourself that most people don't know about you.
My hobbies include reading, writing, hiking, and traveling.
I especially enjoy planning them all together. Like if I
took a trip to South America, I would have to include all
those hobbies to get the full experience. And I also love
the color purple. I enjoy wearing that color and I collect
purple stuff. |

How have you progressed on your
spiritual journey to be a Christian?
The spiritual journey that I have led is one that is filled
with valleys, mountains, spring meadows and deserts. If

Who are the biggest
influences in your life?
Jesus Christ has been the greatest influence in my life.
Without His influence in my life, it is without purpose or
hope. He gives me a reason to live, a reason to keep pressing
on and a reason to have hope. Without Him, I am nothing! |
